Laos Train Booking: Passport and E-Ticket Checklist

To prepare a Laos train booking, first choose the route and travel date, then enter each passenger’s information exactly as required by the booking form. Keep the original passport or other accepted travel document available for checks and read the issued-ticket instructions before going to the station.
Travelers searching for LCR tickets or Laos-China Railway booking may encounter both railway booking channels and independent travel services. Check which service you are using, the final payable amount and the support arrangements. A payment receipt, an order confirmation and an issued ticket serve different purposes.
Prepare your Laos train booking details
Write down the journey direction and date. Vientiane to Luang Prabang and Luang Prabang to Vientiane are different searches. For a multi-city itinerary, list every leg separately so you do not accidentally book the same direction twice.
Use the Laos railway overview to identify the corridor, then search your actual date. Compare the departure station, arrival station and offered seat classes. Check whether the displayed price is for one passenger or the whole party and review any additional charges at checkout.

Check the issued itinerary
When the ticket arrives, compare the passenger, travel date, direction, station names, train and class with your intended journey. Read the instructions accompanying the ticket for how to board and whether any collection or exchange step applies.

Check passport validity, entry permission and the border procedure with the relevant official authorities and the booking provider. A purchased ticket does not replace immigration permission, and a visa arrangement described in an older article may no longer apply.
Cross-border ticket and baggage distinction
For China–Laos international journeys, the published 12306 rules require a paper ticket and the original valid passport used for booking. Online international tickets must be collected as instructed before travel. The ordinary international allowance is 20 kg per passenger, with each item’s length, width and height totalling no more than 130 cm; special passenger allowances and exemptions are described in the official rules. Do not apply this table automatically to every domestic service.
